Although we’ve been selling our chocolates and confections online to those ‘in the know’ for about a year, our involvement in this incubator allowed us to ‘launch’ publicly at The Cleveland Flea on September 14th. The Cleveland Flea is host to 100+ vendors and is part urban treasure hunt, part culinary adventure, part maker center. Over 6000 people visited The Flea that day, and Sweet Bean had a successful public debut. Our menu included: homemade marshmallows (cinnamon, lemon and Dark + Stormy); and 4 pc. boxes of handmade filled chocolates (MILK: warm cinnamon, DARK: white chocolate raspberry, DARK: Ginger + lemon caramel, and WHITE: Thai basil + lemon). We sold out to this record-breaking crowd, and at our first outing! The Flea was a great event for our first sale and we’ll be back at The Flea in October with some Oktoberfest inspired flavors and goodies.
For our second public event, we provided 300+ samples of our candies at the Grand Opening Gala for CCLK. A preview of what may be in store for October was our filled chocolate flavors: DARK: mulled cider caramels, DARK: Maple creme, DARK: white chocolate fennel, and MILK: Warm cinnamon. We had a great time and we were in great company including the current tenants of the kitchen and fellow graduates from the incubator. This was a fantastic opportunity for Sweet Bean to mingle and get feedback from local food industry representatives and residents. And with our continued success, hopefully garners us a spot in this shared kitchen space in the future.
So you’ll understand why we haven’t posted many adventures this Summer – we were too busy experiencing them! Our momentum keeps on, and we’re rolling with it. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook for all the most up-to-date happenings and event notices! Thanks to all for your support and we hope to see you at The Flea or wherever Sweet Bean appears next!
